3 Quick Tips for New Businesses

Shop around for premises

It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of starting a new business, and part of the excitement is finding premises that suit you and your business. Much like when searching for a home, though, it is imperative that you are cautious about making this decision.

Ensure that the premises are easily accessible for you, and your clients. Take a careful look around the rooms and check for signs of poor building maintenance. Finally, ask a lot of questions. About the building, the area, your soon-to-be neighbours and rent costs. Are the rent costs viable? What about the energy costs? Or should you shop around a little more?

One step at a time – caution is key

Speaking of getting overexcited… don’t take on too much, too soon. Good things come to those who wait. You’ll soon be reaping the benefits of having your own business and all the luxuries that come with it but for now, you need to take one step at a time.

This means no ‘dip’ into savings to buy that extravagant sign that you just must have right now or glossy business cards that take away from your all-important budget.

Hire an accountant

It may be tempting to take a free online course and try to tackle all your accounting needs by yourself but ultimately, as you’ll notice, time is of the essence and the more time you spend trying to find your way around accounts, the less time you have to grow and nourish your business.

At The Kelvin Partnership, we offer accountancy services to suit you and your business. From small businesses, to charities, to large corporations. We also offer a free initial consultation where you can find out everything our accountants have to offer without any obligation!
